2017 Holiday Newsletter

It’s that time of year again! Time to visit family, shop and eat big meals. Every year we promise ourselves that we won’t eat too much and that we will join the gym after the chaos of the holiday is over.

Here are some helpful tips that may just make these actually happen this year:

  • Most holiday meals are served family style or buffet style. Human nature is to eat what is in front of you, therefore, leading attendants to eat as much as possible while sampling every recipe passed before them. The best way to overcome these feelings and keep from over eating is to choose only the food items that you truly enjoy. Look around the table and rate all of the foods on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the item you love most). Only choose the foods that rate the highest 8, 9 or 10. This will help as the other choices pass before you because you will already know they are not something you truly want.
  • Remember that getting together with family and friends for the holidays is about the socialization rather than the food. The more you engage in conversation the less likely you are to overindulge. Spend more time with the people and less time in line at the buffet. Best wishes for the New Year!
